September Founder Highlights: AI on the Road & Beyond

Foreward

Hey All,

Happy September! The startup scene is in full swing. In this issue you’ll find a few standout projects and companies the XSLA community is building. We’re also putting together new internal resources for founders and investors over the next few months, so let me know if there’s anything specific you’d like to see.

Elon just secured his $1T package and my feed is flooded with Tesla ads ahead of the shareholder vote. The market’s been looking bullish on $TSLA ( ▲ 4.08% ) lately—are you?

Predictive Horizons 🛠️

  • Mohamad, David, and Jason are building Predictive Horizons, an AI service platform for automotive manufacturers.

Fresh out of stealth, they’re advancing next-generation diagnostics for complex mechatronic systems.

From the Founders:

  • Mohamad Yassine (Tesla, Service Engineering ‘18) - LinkedIn

  • David Nalder (Tesla, Service Engineering ‘20) - LinkedIn

  • Jason Zhang (Tesla, Data Science ‘18) - LinkedIn

Hi Everyone!

Just wanted to share an update from our team on what we’ve been quietly working on. Jason Zhang, Dave Nalder and myself have just recently brought Predictive Horizons out of stealth. Diagnostics was this interesting problem that somehow all three of us fell into in each of our journeys in the automotive industry and a passion that has never left us.

What we’ve built is a full platform that mobility players can implement to significantly improve how long it takes to diagnose early onset of problems in a vehicle, and allow them to deploy advanced vehicle intelligence tools and remote diagnostics to narrow down and predict failures in the field. This helps auto companies feed back intelligence into product development, shorten diagnostic time, and catch things before vehicles are displaying later stage signs of the issues.

I often tell people that automotive service is typically not the first thing that comes to mind as we plot out our careers but we’ve been fortunate enough to have accidentally found it because the core problem we’re solving for is the customer themselves.

TN Support Letter 📜

  • Frank has built a tool that instantly generates TN support letters

  • A process the Tesla community knows well, he’s making Visa applications faster, easier, and less stressful.

From the Founders:

  • Frank Walsh (Tesla, EE Hardware) - LinkedIn

Hey XSLA Crew,

Frank W. here - some of you might remember me from the Low Voltage Controllers team. Over the long weekend I finally productized something I’d been sharing informally for years: TN Visa support letters.

It’s a web app that generates professional, lawyer-style TN support letters in minutes, with an AI review baked in to flag potential issues. For those of you hiring from UBC, Waterloo, or other Canadian schools, it can help get candidates across the border faster.

Beyond the product and benefits, this was just really fun to build - believe it or not, the entire review tool runs off a single prompt.
